Jury Scam Alert!

  The Juror Services Division does not call jurors to obtain personal information, including social security numbers and/or financial information.  If you receive a call asking for these information, do not give the caller any personal information and if possible record the caller's phone number and report the contact to both our juror office and local law enforcement.

Remote Appearance Information

Remote Appearances are governed by Local Rules 1.1.19 and 2.2.4,  Code of Civil Procedure section 367.75, and California Rules of Court, rule 3.672.  The remote appearance requirements vary depending on the hearing type.

Below is a summary of remote appearance requirements for civil evidentiary and non-evidentiary hearings.

As set forth in Local Rule 2.2.4, requests to appear via CourtCall are not required for remote appearances at Case Management Conferences set in Department 97E.  Parties may contact CourtCall to make arrangements for a telephonic appearance.  Click here for CourtCall instructions.

Evidentiary Hearings

Any Hearing where parties may provide oral testimony, for example:

  • Civil Harassment Hearings
  • Name/Gender Change Petitions
  • Civil Limited Default Prove-Up
  • Court Trials
  • Jury Trials
  • Fee Waivers
  • Labor Commissioner Appeals
  • City/County Infraction Appeals
  • Emancipation of Minor
  • Claim Opposing Forfeiture
  • Order for Examination
  • Motions (Ex-Parte, Petition for Minors Compromise)
  • Order to Show Cause
  • Writ of Mandate

  1. RA-010 – Notice of Remote Appearance
  2. RA—020 – Order Regarding Remote Appearance

If E-FILING, parties must submit the documents using the Document Names NOTICE OR REMOTE APPEARANCE AND PROPOSED ORDER.

To Oppose Must Submit Forms:
  1. RA-015 – Opposition to Remote Proceedings at Evidentiary Hearing or Trial

If E-FILING, parties must submit the documents using the Document Names OPPOSITION TO REMOTE PROCEEDINGS AT EVIDENTIARY HEARING OR TRIAL.

Deadlines to File & Serve Forms

If the hearing is calendared beyond 15 Court Days: 

To Notice: 

  • 10 Court Days prior to hearing 

To Oppose: 

  • 5 Court Days prior to hearing. 

If the hearing is set within 15 Court Days: 

To Notice: 

  • 5 Court Days prior to hearing. 

  • If the notice to appear remotely is by the party asking for the hearing: With moving papers 

  • If the notice to appear remotely is by any other party: By 2:00 p.m. the court day before. 

To Oppose:   

  • By 12:00 p.m. the Court day  before the hearing 

Non-Evidentiary Hearings 

Any Hearing where parties will not provide oral testimony, for example:

  • Case Management Conferences
  • Case Status Conferences
  • Pre-Trial Discovery Conferences
  • Dismissals
  • Judgment Status Hearings
